Verona Area School District

Verona, WI

The Verona Area School District had a rare opportunity to finance a new high school when a large tax increment financing area was closing and the related commercial property was returning to the District’s tax base.

District leaders sought to use this once-in-a-generation opportunity to explore how they might develop the best possible high school. We served in a supporting role.

Within the primary goal of developing a great new high school, our specific goal was to devise and investigate options that conventional school planners would not otherwise consider.

The most difficult aspect was, in fact, the virtually unlimited possibilities.

We presented three levels of Nonlinear plans (as we described them): Basic, Ambitious, and Generational. Ultimately, the District adopted some key aspects of our plans and completed the project in 2020 for $150 million.
