The Neighborhood Academy
The Neighborhood Academy’s (TNA) previous operating model was very expensive involving 11-hour school days, small class sizes and full co-curricular programming, yet it only charged nominal tuition and relied on fund raising for 98% of its revenues.
This solution uses facility revenues from the school’s new campus to help subsidize its operations.
Provide financial sustainability for TNA, a very successful urban, college prep high school serving low income families in Pittsburgh while sending 100% of its graduates to college.
The donor community was expressing fatigue. And TNA limited any solution to using no public funding, no tuition increase, no increase in annual fund raising, and no tax referendum.
Using our solution, TNA now owns its own new campus on eight wooded acres (an award winning design; comparable with other “elite” college prep schools), with a multi-million dollar endowment, and new revenues that more than cover its debt service ($15 million project).
